Naturalist Surveys
We conduct multi-taxa inventories to support your preliminary assessments, baseline studies, and long-term ecological monitoring.
Development Projects
AcoNat provides expert support in preparing the natural environment sections of your regulatory documentation for land-use and development projects.
Ecological networks
We model ecological networks of target species to assess their robustness, compare development alternatives, and optimize mitigation measures.
Dark ecological network expertise
AcoNat provides dark ecological network assessments at multiple spatial scales, including the identification of dark corridors, site diagnostics, and the ecological evaluation of lighting projects.
Scientific Studies
We apply our expertise to both fundamental and applied research throughout the Lesser Antilles.
Acoustic Identification
Entrust us with the identification of your bat call sequences and/or the analysis of your raw acoustic data.
Training Programs
AcoNat offers training sessions at all levels on the acoustic ecology of bats in the Lesser Antilles.

Naturalist Surveys
We specialize in bat studies in the Lesser Antilles, and conduct comprehensive, multi-taxa field surveys to support your preliminary assessments, baseline studies, and ecological monitoring.
Our protocols are custom-designed to address your specific questions. We tailor our approach to the nature of your project and the potential biodiversity issues identified on your site.
We also take our surveys to new heights thanks to our tree-climbing expertise. Searching for roosts in tree cavities and deploying equipment in the canopy are all part of our skill set.

Development projects
AcoNat supports you in preparing the natural environment component of your regulatory applications, including:
- Environmental impact assessments and strategic environmental evaluations
- Protected species derogations requests
- Water law compliance files
- Classified facilities for environmental protection
We assist you through every stage of your project’s lifecycle and provide expert guidance in applying the mitigation hierarchy.
Ecological networks
We combine our knowledge of Caribbean fauna with landscape graph tools to model the ecological networks of target species.
During the diagnostic phase, we identify the structural components of the network, including biodiversity reservoirs, major corridors, and connectivity gaps.
At the project stage, we compare alternative scenarios to provide operational decision support based on variant analysis and the integration of avoidance, minimization, and compensation (ERC) measures.
Dark Ecological Network Expertise
We use high-resolution nighttime satellite imagery and dedicated algorithms to identify areas exposed to or preserved from artificial lighting at broad spatial scales.
AcoNat supports stakeholders seeking to minimize the ecological impacts of light, whether for existing installations or new development projects.
At the site scale, our assessments combine field observations and in situ measurements. We characterize current lighting conditions, identify ecologically sensitive areas, and pinpoint problematic light sources, whether existing or planned.
We also model future lighting scenarios to evaluate potential project impacts and the expected effectiveness of proposed mitigation measures. This step is typically conducted in collaboration with the project’s lighting design consultant.
Scientific studies
The acquisition of scientific knowledge lies at the core of AcoNat’s mission.
We apply our expertise in ecology and bioacoustics to both fundamental and applied research projects.
Our primary fields of focus include bat studies and terrestrial bioacoustics in the Lesser Antilles.
You are developing a research program and are interested in our expertise?
We’d be glad to collaborate.
Acoustic identification – Data analysis
Acoustic identification of bats requires specialized expertise and can be highly time-consuming.
If you are considering purchasing, or already own, ultrasound recorders but lack the resources to process your recordings, AcoNat can identify your bat sequences for you.
We also offer raw data analysis services tailored to your specific research or monitoring objectives.
Our pricing is scaled based on the number of recording nights you provide.
